I wanna see as many pics as possible of WJ fender trimming... thanks guys!
I serched around for threads but I did not find much!
Some more ideas:
Thats the thread I was looking for!!! Next summer I want to run 33's on 4" of lift and be able to flex like I can now (32's on 4")
Thanks!!!
Hey John how is your inner and outer render attached in the rear? Also you don't run into this problem in the front?
Those other pics are not my WJ. Some people don't attach the two rear pieces (most ZJ'ers just leave them), some fill the space with expandable foam, some rivet like Halfdoc did. The front fender is just a single sheet of metal, so it is much easier to deal with.

I don't think I want to use rivets just becuase I don't like the look.
I've got 6.5 inches of lift with 35's and 6.3 inches of shock uptravel. just got on site today so have not got ability to post yet. Would be happy to e-mail photo's of trimmed fenders and relocation of winsheild fluid bottle.(used original pumps nd computer still tells me when to fill it.)
Welcome aboard! Newb!
I did the ZJ wash bottle relocation too, it works well.
I would like to see your trimming pics, more then one way to skin a WJ.
I would like to see them too. If you email them to me blainewashere@gmail.com I'll toss them up in this thread! Thanks!
H3RESQ, Here are some of your fender trim pics you sent me.
I noticed that you didn't do much trimming in the rear and are rubbing a bit. Did you extend your rear bump stops? What size tires are you running?
I have removed the rear plastic trim piece and extended my bump stops, that helps a little. If you check out Halfdoc's (David) trimming, you can see he took off a lot in the rear.
Thanks, John
I unscrewed these plastic pieces you are rubbing on.
If you look inbetween the lower 2 screws you can see were the tire rubs the paint. Just didn't seem bad wnough to worry about(yet). The tires are 35x12.50x18 coopers.( ya I know, way to much rim.) I'm going to be running 37 krawlers soon I'll post the trimming. Back to the rear fenders. I angled the bumper back alot then moved the axle back about 3/4 inch. I do need to do something more because the rear bumper works as a bumpstop.
Thanks for the pics! Thats exactly how I want to trim my front fenders.
Adding pics for someone. Rear and Front.
Maybe I can bring this thread back...I want to cut my rear fender about a 1/4 inch. Is it a must to fuse the 2 sheets of metal together? Will they move or flex, or can I just throw some trim over the cut? Thanks. heres a pic of my front I did yesterday.
I was thinking of doing it this weekend, 04WJ do you have a side profile pic of your front? That came out looking really good
Heres the side pic, I smoothed out the front bumper a bit more but dont have an updated pic. I used a cut off wheel and as you can see it came out pretty good. I didnt cut right at the fold, just a hair under. I taped it off, then drew a line with a sharpie to follow for the cut. For the tight turns/corners I used a dremmel.
i think you might have to trim more of the bumper so you can clear the tire while its turned, and stuffed. But it depends on your offset of wheels etc.
if you trim any part of the back it will have to be sealed, since i am pretty sure it goes into the cab area. You can fold the lips up like i did, and it gets you a little more clearance. I will end up cutting my rear soon, once i get my shocks and see what my actual uptravel is capable of.
Good luck-
G-
Just finished the front today. Except for the edgeguard. I took about 1 3/4" from the top and front edge and 1" from the rear edge. I think the rear will require a bit more planning though. I think I will fold in the inner seam and use panel bond adhesive to reseal it.
