Re: The Wheelin Rig
I just saw your zjuggy in the spring 07 issue of Jeep Junkie. The rig looks badass.

Re: The Wheelin Rig
I can't believe I missed your "bender mount" before - that's brilliant, and I'm copying
I haven't used my new bender yet since I kept debating how / where to mount it... back of the truck solves that! |

Re: The Wheelin Rig
No real updates on the buggy. It's still in the same condition as when it came home from GSSE (unbroken). The next step is 'tons and full hydro but that is a little ways down the road still.
I did buy an 05 Titan to replace the old green land yacht I've been using to tow for the last year. Never thought I'd be in a half ton gasser, but it's practical, reliable, and will still get the Jeep to the trail when I want it to. Matt, you'll love the hitch-mounted bender. Your buddies are going to want to borrow it- mine is on loan right now, which is way better than it sitting in my garage gathering dust. Last edited by ATL ZJ; 11-13-2007 at 07:31 PM. |

Re: The Wheelin Rig
Buddy of mine pulls his CJ with a Titan, really surprised me at how well it pulled. He kept up with my 'stroke pretty much everywhere except the big long 11,000ft passes.

Re: The Wheelin Rig
That's good to hear Dave. I haven't towed with it yet but it's got plenty of power for my liking. I have a couple friends that tow with Titans but not at elevations like where you are. The finned diff cover is definitely on the list- that little 44 is a big step down from my previous 14 bolt.

Titan's a freakin' nice truck. I'm hoping it has a diesel some day to help with the fuel effeciency, I'd buy it!

My buddy;s dad is a head manager for Nissan for the canadian corporation. He drives a titan with a diesel as a DD. they are just not ready to release into the north amrican market. Nissan actually makes some wicked stuff. They are way overlooked. their 1/4 ton trucks have larger rear ends then a ford 9" and their t-cases use HUGE bearings.

Re: The Wheelin Rig
It's a place in Lithonia next to one of the quarries down there. Bailey's Land Cruiser club had a Saturday ride there, so I decided to tag along. Ended up driving the Jeep because it's closer than where I keep my trailer.

Re: The Wheelin Rig
hey man...long time no see/talk! saw where you said you got a titan. right on! by the way...I blew out the 44 on mine at 11k miles...pulling away at a red light giving it hell! I wouldn't rely on the finned cover...i already had one. Nissan should do it for free though...go to titantalk.com. it'll tell you about all of the tsb's and what not. Shoot my a line if you are ever getting rid of old parts
I'm always in the market. are you still running the front 44?

Re: The Wheelin Rig
...I get it- it snows more in the north. Congrats for being homies with Jack Frost.
New tires will probably come sometime after this year's GSSE. Already grabbed a 14 bolt that I'm building now. Bryan, I towed with the Titan today for the first time and it did great- can't even feel the trailer back there.. I will check on the finned cover because I need one regardless, but the idea of towing with a d44 still seems absurd to me. But I am still running a 44 in the front of the Jeep, albeit a very polished one, at least for a while.. Last edited by ATL ZJ; 02-16-2008 at 10:13 PM. |

Re: The Wheelin Rig
We went to Morris Mountain ORV in Delta, AL yesterday for the day. It was 70 degrees and sunny. Bailey even drove his FJ from Atlanta to the trails and back. We ran 10+ different trails (some twice), had no breakage, and got home around dark.
