Re: Announcing Grand Slam Southeast (GSSE) 2009

Normally we all end up gathered in one spot around either a fire or a tv in the window of an RV watching the day's wheeling videos. The location really just comes down to who wants to sleep and who wants to stay up.

the place is big enough to stay up as late as you want without bothering anyone... even the dairy hut stays open til 11.

Re: Announcing Grand Slam Southeast (GSSE) 2009

I called up there yesterday and here's what I was told by Debbie...

2 Different camping areas...

1 - North Park
$10/night per tent. This is a grassy area w/ shade for those wanted to "pitch a tent"! haha. Includes wireless internet, bath house, fire wood and is about a min. drive from the south park. But is where everyone stages for each days run and is the closest of the two to the trail head.

2 - South Park
$20/night per site. Doesn't matter how many camp in that site as its the site you're paying for...not what's in it. It's gravel/dirt area w/out shade. Does include, power, water, cable hook ups plus a bath house, firewood, and wireless internet.

I for one am going to be sleeping in a tent so I'm going to stay at the "North Park" b/c it's cheaper, has grass and shade of which the south park section doesn't. I've never been at a camp ground that actually provided firewood free of charge. I usually pull up w/ about a half bed of firewood for the weekend. I'm looking forward to it!!!

Re: Announcing Grand Slam Southeast (GSSE) 2009

good info from debbie. I've heard good stuff about the north campground also, just never stayed there.

You said that the north park is where everyone stages, but we'll be grouping up and leaving from the south park. Chances are you'll need to head over to get fuel/permits/ice/breakfast anyways. hope that's not too inconvenient... don't want anybody to get left behind either.

Re: Announcing Grand Slam Southeast (GSSE) 2009

Hey guys I'm Nick Fisher and I'll be making this trip with Joe (slim616). I'm beyond excited. I think I may have met a few of you at big dogs and i look forward to meeting the rest of you. This was a last minute decision so I hope I'm prepared.

Joe, so from what I gather here on the camping, should we call and reserve a spot or are we counting on joining one of the sites already reserved? I just don't want to crash someones site unwelcome!

Re: Announcing Grand Slam Southeast (GSSE) 2009

Hey nick welcome to the board. I figured we just play it by ear. If someone has extra room at a site they want to share that would be cool, if not well just grab our own.

Welcome Nick. You riding shot gun or driving your own rig? If you are driving - what is it?

Well I hope it doesnt thunderstorm real bad. Last weekend at Uwharrie we were on kodak rock and all of a sudden god started taking a lot of pictures of us... It was more like a race to get off the trails then.

Im looking forward to seeing the ZJ too

10 hours nick, did one of your hampsters die in that tow rig of yours? I plan on making it in 8 or so. let me know if you need me to hook a toe strap up from behind my trailer to that nissan so we can make it in 8. As for a solid plan do we ever have one?

You'll be loaded down by all the tools you have to bring to keep that grand moving! Our biggest time crusher will be you managing to get lost WITH a gps taking a "shortcut"!!

It's a 79 ford bronco front axle. I have Alloy usa all the way around from before omnix took over. Really sucks 2 cause they wont waranty any of the old shafts. So glad i spent almost a grand on shafts that have no waranty after a year.

That depends...it's really up to the supplier you bought them from to be honest. Give me a call if you want and I'll see if I can point you in the right direction to get you going.

Re: Announcing Grand Slam Southeast (GSSE) 2009

I know I never said whether I was coming or not, but I alluded to being interested earlier in the thread (and Ryan sent me a message asking if I was coming), so I should say that I'm definitely not coming this year. My parents are coming to visit this weekend, so I can't come. Hopefully I'll see a few of you at the Main Jambo in Sept.

I told Ryan that he can publicly call me out next year if I don't make it, so plan for me to attend next year. I even mentioned it to my girlfriend and she seemed excited to go to KY next year

Y'all have fun and take lots of pics/vids.
