Re: Announcing Grand Slam Southeast (GSSE) 2009

Anyone looking for specific parts for repairs, spares etc? I've got a ton of D30 parts like shafts, knuckles, calipers, covers, steering links, steering boxes, pumps, etc. If you need something and I've got it sitting here, I'll toss it in the truck for you.

Re: Announcing Grand Slam Southeast (GSSE) 2009

looks like I should have all the small details worked out on the jeep by sat giving me sunday to do some maintenance on the tow rig.

As of now it looks like me and another rig from PA will be leaving thur morning, meeting up with moonworks, and jdconti In Va putting us down there thur evening around 7 or so. So here's the question, how late in the evening can you purchase those permits?

yeah I think they are open moderately late. The best place to get them is the chevron 1/4 mile up the road from the campground. Just make a left out of the campground and you will see it on your right. Takes about 5-10 minutes to fill out the paperwork and pay your $35. Of course you can pay $20 for the month but if you decide to come back within the next year, you'll have to pay again. Plus it's cheap as dirt and the $ goes to keeping the trails open, so if you are on the fence, I'd recommend paying for a whole year.

Please try to have your permit completed, sticker on to your rig, and be fueled up by 9am on friday if you are riding that day. So if they aren't open late at night when your arrive thursday, try to make a point to head up there first thing in the morning.

Apparently they are selling permits at the trailhead also on fridays and saturdays now, but the most efficient way is probably to tackle the permits independently before we all leave the campground together. We aren't super uptight about much but please respect everyone else's time and get your permit taken care of early. sorry if that sounds lame but I want everyone to get as much wheeling in as possible.

Unfortunately they don't have online payment setup for permits yet. but it only takes a few minutes and filling out the form isn't bad with a dairy hut coffee in your other hand.

Buddy's Chevron is open 24 hrs. It is also the check-in point for people staying at Black Mountain Cabins.

Re: Announcing Grand Slam Southeast (GSSE) 2009

Alright, less than a week before some of yall will be leaving... Here are a few details.

-Mapquest directions or set your GPS to "KY-38, Evarts KY"

-If you're camping and haven't reserved a spot, pick one when you arrive that doesn't have a reserved sign on it. they'll come around and collect $ in the morning. They take checks and cash.

-I'll be the goofy tall guy driving the beat up black and silver thing. And camping by the gray titan at sites #3, #4.

-As mentioned, bring your beverages of choice.

-As also mentioned, try to have your permits before 9 friday.

-The campground has 110 and 220 hookups, so you can bring any tools you want.

-Finding the campground in the dark- If you're coming east on KY-38 (away from Harlan), when you enter Evarts you'll cross a bridge and see the Dairy Hut on your right... the campground is directly behind it. It looks like this.

Any other questions, just ask. I can't wait.

normally they want you to mail a check for the first night, and then they mail you a receipt back (high tech, I know) but they might let you reserve one without doing that. 877-737-0778 and ask for debbie

BTW the GSSE group has at least sites 3, 4, 6 and 7 so far.

Cool. It's 20/night per site, unlimited people/tents/broken rigs per site.

Maybe I volunteered to prepay?? Anybody else is planning on camping may want to reserve spot 10 because I just got word of a few more rigs coming.

Now how does the party thing work at night. Is it like bigdogs were you just pick one site to have a big ass bonfire and everyone comes over or is it a free for all were people just float site to site BSing?
