Re: Announcing Grand Slam Southeast (GSSE) 2009

For anybody planning on camping... it's first come first serve. If you want to reserve a site, the phone number is 877-737-0778 and ask for Debbie.

I reserved sites 3 and 4, which are pretty much in the center of the campground, between the creek and the dairy hut. Not that the campground is big enough for it to matter- you can walk a lap around the whole thing in 2 minutes. But if you reserve a site no one will ask you to move because you came in late and picked a site that someone else reserved for the next night.

Re: Announcing Grand Slam Southeast (GSSE) 2009

Chances are I'll have to wait til after work thursday to leave ATL... and it's a 6 hr drive, so it'll likely be midnight when I pull in.

There will probably be other guys arriving from OH and SC on Thursday late afternoon (that haven't posted on here) and they may want to hit the trails for a few hours on thursday evening.

Otherwise, I'd say just have your permit taken care of and be fueled up and ready to roll on friday morning.

I'll be riding along with Conti. He was over hanging out a bit tonight...we're pretty stoked about hitting Harlan up!

He's got a wedge trailer so if anyone in the immediate area wants to toss their rig on the trailer, you're welcome to. Just split fuel cost.

FYI - Harlan is what they call a "moist" county, half dry, half wet. So.....you might want to bring any adult beverages with you. From what I understand the nearest alcohol outlet is about 20 miles away.

Good call on that. One time we made a run and the closest place we knew of was 45 minutes away (one way) and in Virginia.

Re: Announcing Grand Slam Southeast (GSSE) 2009

Nope. You have to drive to the "wet" portion of the county for it. So it's probably easier just to plan ahead and bring your own.

Yes it is much easier to bring your own. anyone who's been to harlan knows what a pain it is to try to "run out" and get something. you'll be away from camp better than an hour no matter what... However there is a ghetto grocery store within 5 minutes of camp..

That makes two of us. I'm glad we have two weekends to thrash and finish - I think the YJ will be ready! The ZJ is my back up.

x3, Though I’m pretty certain GSSE will be the test run for my rig, IF I finish. Should be interesting to see how far I get before problems surface. And if I can finish the full hydro this weekend then chances drastically improve.

Anybody want a d44 drive slug (free)? Or a stock d44 cover?

I just have to retube my front dshaft with some thicker wall DOM, plumb in a residual valve, and install a new steering shaft/column and I should be all set.

I've got a waggy and a YJ steering box if anyone is intrested. $40 bucks each. I plan on throwing them in the toolbox anyway, harlan has a nasty habit of eating steering boxes...

I'll take the 44 slug off your hands if nobody else had claimed it.

My "left to do" list is getting shorter. I still have to figure out driveshafts, modify the exhaust for DS clearance, install full-circle u-joint clips, figure out my steering, trim the rear fenders, make a track bar and both brackets, do some wiring, and a bunch of other "little things" that end up soaking up time.

It's all yours. Is your YJ "60" running d44 outers?
