Yeah but you have no idea of that XJ trailers quality or stability or as to load capacity and whether or not it is even sturdy. so way to go

Dude...you were asking if the unibody would be strong enough to do something like this, then you posted a picture of a UNIBODY xj trailer, AND THEN you try to get back at him with some information that doesn't even relate to his post. Go away.

You didn't ask that. You asked this:

has anyone ever done something like this with a grand cherokee and is it even possible due to the lack of a "real" frame?.

So, you got an answer. Though it a little rough, He answered the question you had.

Well to not continue the bitch fest going on. You'd obviously have to reinforce it where you cut it apart. In my personal experience with a 1990 camaro that my friends and I cut the roof off of and then drove around, the body flexed like crazy just with the simple loss of support between the A and B pillars. So some cross tubing would be in order, maybe building an internal cage to add some strength, but i swear i've seen something else similar to this before.

thats what i was thinking. and maybe just tie the part that connects to your hitch into the internal cage. now to start hunting for a totalled ZJ with good rear.

It says clear title. Bring a pry bar and run it during the day so you don't have to worry about the lights. Bill of sale and title in hand, should be no issues.

There aren't any wrecking yards around your state that will sell you half a body? Shit my dad would sell someone half a body of a jeep easily. Just give me a half hour and a sawzall and come back to pick it up with a trailer. I've actually got a few of these laying around that there is nothing left of really since i've sold most of the inner and outer parts off. Maybe i could do this but just set the half a body on top of a cut up trailer frame i got at the yard too. That would make it even easier.

whats your point. It's a nice trailer but will be very heavy to pull around.

How about an MJ bed with a topper on it?

Not sure I would build a trailer out of a Grand Cherokee or XJ body. JMHO

To make it a sleeper you would have to go all the way up 2 the b pillar. If you made it so the rear doors still worked it would be really cool but you would have to be realy good with metal fab to make it look worth a shit.

I figure if I were to buy a ZJ just to cut it in half and tow behind another ZJ, I might as well put it on some 60's and big ass tires and wheel the snot out of it.
