We ended up at lower damnation and all of us had to hammer down at the first ledge, which made for some good video. My rig started starving for fuel halfway up the ledge as the gas in the cell ran away from the pickup, so I had to steal some from Trey's rig. Half of the rigs even made the last ledge... chris in the white XJ, shane in his TJ, and mike (muddtracks) in his grand. I got too impatient and stayed in it after sliding off my line and came down hard enough on my rear driveshaft to bend it. I got some video that I will try to get up tonight. Re: GSSE 2009 Photo Thread
What in the F am I doing in that last picture?! Guess that was after it slid and both right tires picked up in the air. What a tool.
The pic below on the highway is still one of my favorites. I can't believe we got away with that 30 min street drive. And even more surprising is nothing fell off of Joe's rig! It was great to see that working as well as it did. All that hard work is finally paying off, it was fun to watch it work well. You just need a torque wrench and lock tite haha. Oh yah...and cotter pins! I'm amazed my rig held together. I was beating it harder than I ever have and I'm not built near as good as everybody else was. I felt very under built for Harlan's terrain. ![]() Whooops ![]() Good group shot showing off the amazing view. ![]() Trying to flee the parking lot campground the Titan's trans got a bit hot dragging the jeep up the muddy climb in 4wd on the access trail at the entrance of the park. Whooops! Other than the gas mileage the truck did damn good and didn't hold up your big ass diesels. "Can that thing keep up?" Lots of Nissan haters!!

Yeah 8hr drive for us to Harlan and Matt was working probably 75% of the trip up. Definetly the best customer service you will ever find.

There's a link to my pics and some videos. I didn't get a lot of footage cause I left my camera in my tow rig the first 2 days so...ya Had a great time despite my super gay front drive shaft and the other breakages in my group. Good to see everybody again and meet some new folks. I think the only things I broke are the giant "1350" double cardain from drive shaft superstore, my 46re kinda shifts funny, but I think it's the electronics, and my already broken drivers side tail light lost a few more pieces. I hope everybody who wanted to got a vid from GSSE08. I also hope it turned out decent cause I didn't watch the final cut before pumping out the 15 copies. Hope somebody got some vid of me coming out of grape vine the second time and posts that. See ya'll next year or at Mt.City. |

Which pic are you talking about? The one with his hands in the air is on Lions Den.

Re: GSSE 2009 Photo Thread
I almost forgot to add the most memorable quote was made by mud tracks who said, "HOLY sausage fest, look at 'em cram in there!" . Which when taken out of context is the funniest thing ever! Where were the cameras that night at the camp ground man?!

Re: GSSE 2009 Photo Thread
He was riding shotgun and jumped out and scampered away when it happened. It was a super slow roll being that I was in the process of winching myself up the ledge when i flopped it.

Re: GSSE 2009 Photo Thread
i'll tell you what, i'm glad you guys talked me into coming, I had a hell of a good time wheeling and meeting you all. Except for the whole driving along the cliff thing
For the most part the first day our group (john, matt, nick, mandy, and the other matt) spent sight seeing since we had two rigs with no lockers with us, but the second day was one of the better wheeling days I had in a long time. Especially when we met up with Ryan, jennifer, Casey, Ronnie, and Brooks. I have a bunch of pics and video of everyone that i'll try to upload tonight. As for the jeep it did pretty well. Only broken part was a bad weld on my drive shaft, Other then that it held together pretty well. Probably next week i'll begin to tear down the jeep to get it ready for big dogs. During the 50 some mile back up on 81 i came up with a game plan on the jeep. -Full hydro up front -doubler or atlas if the tree work keeps busy -gears and cromoly axels with 35 spline axle all the way around -coil overs in the rear - strech the wheel base another 6" or so. Probly 2" up front and 3 to 4" in the back. -38" tires on bead locks -rear winch bumper - And yes some decent drive shafts So matt (aka moonworks) i'll be using your customer service once again

Re: GSSE 2009 Photo Thread
Sounds like you got alot of work to do and money to spend. I just got off the phone with Matt and I'm getting 5.13 gears, a new detroit for the front and a fuel cell. Not sure if I'll have it done before Rausch.
Let me know if you want my NP231 that we talked about I can bring it with me when I come up to Rausch. |

Also, anybody else bring anything home with them from Evarts? (ie, poison ivy or ticks) I had both. Not too much poison ivy and just one tick, and he hadn't been there long from the looks of his skinny ass. I took the ZJ and pressure washed it last night and looked it over a little closer. It looks like my oil pan was barely getting hit by my track bar at full stuff. I got lucky it wasn't any worse and I'll be fixing that right away.

Re: GSSE 2009 Photo Thread
I noticed that when I went to check out your rig at the bottom of Mason Jar. Didn't say anything b/c I figured you already knew about it. I'd just replace it with a straight one as the bend is what was messing you up.
