looks liek a fun project!.
Its starting to get to be lot more fun, fixing crap that broke isnt fun, but building it better certainly is.
Andy, at least you wont have a POS 30 front axle for your jeep.
Got the CO's today, waiting on springs, put them in to see how everything will fit. This is at full bump, I want more up-travel, but my lower arms hit the frame rail. I might do some more cutting.
Looking fun! Can't wait to see what the front end looks like all finished up
Man you are working fast on this! What length coil overs?
It'll look funny with coil overs and a Dana 30, but the tube work will definitely make up for it. Awesome work so far!
those CO's look liek their going to get awfuly close to the tires. have you flex'd the front out yet with tires on there?
I did mount a tire then droop one side, the tire may hit the spring at about 12" droop. I might have to run a shorter limit strap than I thought.
I originally had the lower mount at the base of the "C" and the frame AND tire were going to interfere, the new mount being higher on the axle, and a few inches wider, definitely helps.
Tonight, I got both A pillars welded to the halo, got one half of the "X" on the halo done, then a 60-70lb steel sawhorse fell on my foot, right past the PPE composite toe, I can barely walk now. I can move all my toes, so I don't think it's broken, but I'm surprised its not. This may slow progress for a few days.
Engine cage looks good man, tucked in pretty tight to the engine too!
bottom Shock bolt to WMS is 9.5"
Upper shock bolt to WMS is 10.25" (coil over is 2* from vertical at full bump.
Depth of WMS in the wheel to sidewall of my 35" tire, is 5.5"
Collapsed length of shock is 20" Ext. is 34"
Height of shock lower bolt from axle tube center line is 10"
(This last one is a relative guess, I forgot to measure that, and I cant hardly walk to go measure it)
Damn this thing is wrecked then rebuild extra badass in a short timespan, I love it, great work Neil!
looking awesome man! great work
Thanks duude.
Got a wee bit more done. I need to get my ass in gear and get it wrapped up before the snow falls!
FOA shot me an email, said the 16"-350 springs I wanted for a 250-350 setup, are back ordered til the end of November, they are checking on a availability for a 275-300 setup. We'll see how those will work.
Fawking amazing!! Great work Neil.
Loving that front-end!
Hurry the fawk up! Then come finish my boatside.
The rig is turning out really nice. Cool that you have been able to take a bad situation but make the best of it.
Do you use any software such as Bend tech for bending up your tube or just on the fly?
Very nice tubework! Looks like that little wreck was a blessing in disguise, b/c that thing looks SICK!
I'm assuming you'll just run a horizontal bar on top of the radiator to connect the two fenders? Any other plans for the front end?
I use a sketchbook and a pencil do get the ideas, then a tapemeasure and digital level to bend the tube where I want it. Takes some patience.
Haha thanks guys! And Tyler, have fun with the boatside!
Very insightful, that's exactly what I have planned. I will use that spanning tube as an upper radiator support, as well as a mounting location for a pair of hood pins. Ordering a Smittybilt 10k comp winch tomorrow, and need to get it set on the front end before I do too much more. I definitly see this wreck as a blessing in disguise now, hard to see the forest through the tress, when the wreck just happened. Now I clearly see some potential for more wheeling fun.
NOT looking forward to doing the tin work on the inner fenders, but I have to do something to keep the mud out of the engine bay.
