Just DD right now on my install, I'm trying to get to Moab on the weekend of Sept. 29-30 to at least do the Spike, but things are not lining up well with kids' grades and other life events.
As far as DD goes, there have been no issues, such as vibration cracks or any weaknesses like that. It still looks good and adds style and functionality to the ZJ, but that isn't the whole reason I purchased it.
The bumper is tucked up well so unless I do a hard trail like the Spike or Moab Rim that has ledges or obsticals that push the front into things, it is going to be hard to get any feedback from the abuse point of view.
After I finish my two bathroom remodels then I'm going to check for fitting 33's, which is another reason that I got the bumper, but that won't be until November at this point.
As soon as I get another tough trail under my ZJ I'll let you all know or if something fails or looks like it is starting to fail.
Does anybody know if these guy's are still in business? There web site link does not work.
I don't know, it could be that someone forgot to renew their domain or webhosting. I think it would be too bad if they did, hopefully they were spinning this off of another business that could support it during the start up period and a couple of years, but you never know and this is a business market that is very tough to make it in.
We did run Spike yesterday and Todd made it out for the run. He took some hits to the bumper and the paint took some damage, but the bumper held up great best I could tell.
Dave beat me too it, here are some pics of the trail scars on the bumper(s), rear too as John spotted me through a deeper line on the crack than 31's liked and it lead to a nice noise dive and drug my rear corner enough to bend my tail pipe, which I didn't do last time. Not that it was a problem, made for a nice pic with the rear in the air. I think Pam has some good pics.
I'm very happy with the bumper as it performed as I expected with a minor amount of wear on the glass that got into the rock ledges and even the opposite side of the crack. You'll see the paint on the steel chiped and wore away as well. A little plastic Krylon and it will be good to go and without worring about rust if I don't get to it soon. Glass never rusts...
Oh yea, I didn't baby it and did plenty of ledges as you can see. I figured that doing to Spike again on 31's would be a good test of the bumper since I'm a lot lower than the guys on 34's and 35's.
